REPUTATION SYSTEMS
STRUCTURAL FIELD CARDS
10 Reference Cards · NSFC 121–130
This Structural Field Card collection examines how social perception can be prepared before an event, shaped while events are unfolding, protected when competing accounts appear, and repaired when reputation is damaged. Reputation Systems are mapped here as a narrative–retention–supply based architecture: the system manages what reaches an audience, the credibility attached to it, and the social conditions in which later information will be interpreted.
Series Observation
Reputation Systems do not merely respond to perception; they can prepare perception in advance. A visible smear, defense, or repair effort may be only one event inside a larger social-facing architecture that seeds interpretations, positions credibility, selects audiences, packages evidence, borrows social proof, amplifies accounts, contains contradiction, and restores standing when needed.
When favorable reputation cues accumulate across an audience, they can create an interpretive buffer around later self-directed choices, allocations, or relationship changes. The later event may then receive the benefit of an explanation that was socially established before the event required evaluation.
The smear is visible. The reputation system that made the smear believable may not be.
