Scarcity Maintenance

Supply · Limited Availability · Perceived Value

Questionable Event

?

Has limited access, reduced availability, or infrequent interaction increased the perceived importance or value of a person, relationship, opportunity, or resource?

The pattern is not limited availability. The pattern is scarcity repeatedly increasing pursuit and perceived value.

Structural Observation

Within the Narcy Studies Lab framework, Scarcity Maintenance describes a structure in which limited availability, reduced access, or infrequent interaction increases the perceived value of a person, relationship, opportunity, or resource. One busy period, delayed response, or naturally limited opportunity may be ordinary. The structure begins when scarcity is repeatedly preserved because reduced access heightens anticipation, interest, urgency, or priority. What is difficult to reach begins to occupy more attention than what is freely available.

Field Guidance

Time, energy, distance, schedules, health, and responsibilities naturally limit availability. Scarcity Maintenance is different. Once the pattern becomes visible, delayed access, selective interaction, heightened anticipation, and increased pursuit are no longer viewed as isolated scheduling effects. They become part of the Supply structure.
