Structural Observation
Within the Narcy Studies Lab framework, Obligation Expansion describes a structure in which an existing commitment gradually extends into additional duties, expectations, and responsibilities.
One extra favor, temporary adjustment, or evolving responsibility may be ordinary.
The structure begins when the original commitment repeatedly serves as justification for new obligations that were not part of the initial agreement.
“Since you are already doing this” becomes the mechanism through which the role keeps growing.
Field Guidance
Responsibilities naturally evolve as families, workplaces, friendships, and communities respond to changing needs.
Obligation Expansion is different.
Once the pattern becomes visible, additional requests, expanding expectations, inherited tasks, and growing responsibility are no longer viewed as isolated acts of cooperation. They become part of the Supply structure.
