Structural Observation

Within the Narcy Studies Lab framework, Blame Shifting describes a narrative and accountability mechanism that moves responsibility away from the original concern. People may honestly disagree about responsibility. The structure begins when each attempt to examine an event produces a new source of blame. Attention moves toward another person, a circumstance, a reaction, or an earlier mistake. The original conduct becomes harder to evaluate because responsibility keeps changing location. The pattern is not disagreement about responsibility. The pattern is responsibility repeatedly moving away from the original concern.

Field Guidance

Healthy accountability can recognize shared responsibility while still identifying each person's specific contribution. Blame Shifting is different. Once the pattern becomes visible, responsibility disputes are no longer viewed as isolated disagreement. They become part of the Narrative structure when blame repeatedly relocates before the original concern can be addressed.
