Minimization describes a narrative mechanism that
reduces the perceived seriousness, frequency, impact, or relevance
of an event.
People may honestly disagree about how significant something was.
The structure begins when impact is repeatedly resized downward.
Frequency becomes rarity. Harm becomes inconvenience. A pattern
becomes a single bad moment. Attention shifts from what occurred to
whether the observer is reacting too strongly.
The pattern is not perspective.
The pattern is impact repeatedly being resized downward.
Field Guidance
Healthy perspective can reduce unnecessary alarm while still
acknowledging what happened and how it affected others.
Minimization is different.
Once the pattern becomes visible, reduced language is no longer
viewed as isolated reassurance. It becomes part of the Narrative
structure when severity is consistently lowered enough to interrupt
recognition, accountability, or response.
