Connection disappears after disagreement, resistance, or unmet expectations, and attention shifts toward restoring contact rather than evaluating the issue. The pattern is not quiet. Field Guidance

Healthy time-outs are named, bounded, and followed by a return to communication. Silent Treatment is different. Once the pattern becomes visible, periods of silence are no longer viewed as isolated withdrawal.
